Start Early
Skin health and restoration does not happen overnight so it is important to begin a consistent skincare routine months before your big day. An average “skin cycle” is about six weeks. During this time, your skin will adapt to the new products you are using, and healthy, more youthful skin will begin to appear. Getting a jump start on your skin care allows time for us to make adjustments to the products you are not getting results from, or are having a reaction to. Everyone’s skin is different; most skincare routines require a decent amount of “trial and error” before it works just right...Trust the process!
EYE CREAM
For whatever reason, it seems that most of us neglect the eye area. The skin around our eye is extremely thin and is the first to show the signs of aging. We should be using an eye cream 2x a day, starting as early as age 20! Consistently using eye cream will brighten your under eye circles, help prevent fine lines and wrinkles and allows your makeup to go on smoother. Do not skip this step!
Spray Tan
If you are getting sprayed for your big day it is important to do so at least two days prior to your wedding. You must be able to take at least two showers before putting your wedding dress on to prevent any color transfer. Before your spray appointment be sure to shower with a clear body wash, shave, exfoliate and remember not to use any body lotion, perfume or deodorant. You must be dry and squeaky clean to help guarantee an even application! Post spray, it is best to wear dark, loose clothes and remember not to get wet or sweat before your first shower.
I tell all of my brides to do ONE LESS coat on your face. A super tan face can throw off your foundation color and photograph funny once you’re made up. I promise I will make sure your face and body match!
DRINK WATER
This is a simple, inexpensive, an often-overlooked solution to a healthy complexion. Your skin is made up of 64% water. Hydrating your skin from the inside out guarantees and glowing complexion! Water also decreases the concentration of oil on your skin, which can help combat breakouts...drink up ladies!
Makeup
TRIAL TRIAL TRIAL!!! When wedding day arrives, all the hard work and stress is done, you should sit back, pop the champagne and focus on one thing: getting married! You shouldn’t spend the beginning of your big day worrying about how your makeup is going to look. I recommend booking a trial on a day you have another event so you can truly get the feel of your look; your engagement shoot, bridal shower or bachelorette party are perfect opportunities!
A bridal trial guarantees we are on the same page and will create the most perfect wedding-day look possible. You want to feel like the best version of yourself on your wedding day. If you don’t normally rock a bold lip, now is not the time to try it. However, I do suggest giving false lashes a chance! (you can thank me later..they're a game changer. Seriously.) Falsies photograph beautifully and can change your entire look. They completely open up your eyes and in my opinion are the finishing touch to a great makeup application!
